Cloudy was developed for the Global Game Jam (Winter 2022) as a fast-paced atmospheric platformer. After losing control of their brand-new weather machine, the player’s scientist protagonist must chase it down by climbing the skies, using the machine’s remaining prototype functions to manipulate the local weather along the way.

Core Technical & Design Elements

  1. Dynamic Weather-State Switching: Designed an interactive mechanic allowing players to toggle between stormy and calm weather states via mouse click, directly altering active platforms, hazards, and movement physics in real time.
  2. Platformer Level Design: Crafted levels where vertical progression depends on reading and reacting to both weather phases to open paths, clear obstacles, and keep climbing.
  3. Game Jam Rapid Prototyping: Conceptualized, built, and polished under strict game jam time constraints, balancing core player feedback loops and responsive controls.

Final Result

Cloudy successfully delivered a tight, atmospheric gameplay loop that merged environmental puzzle-solving with traditional platforming mechanics under jam conditions.
