Built in Godot for Brackeys Game Jam 2026.1 and Godot Wild Jam #90 alongside kyleelg, Westlow, and AWildSun Games, Roadtrip Through SpaceTime reimagines childhood car-trip I Spy as a click-the-object game, using hints to guide players to the right target.

Game Design

Roadtrip Through SpaceTime was built in Godot as a joint submission to both Brackeys Game Jam 2026.1 and Godot Wild Jam #90, developed alongside kyleelg, Westlow, and AWildSun Games. The concept takes the classic backseat car-trip game of I Spy and turns it into a playable click-and-search experience: the game feeds the player a hint, and it’s up to them to spot and click the correct object among the scene’s clutter.

Core Gameplay Loop

Each round centers on reading a hint, scanning the scene, and clicking the object it’s pointing to — a simple, replayable loop built on observation rather than reflexes, true to the game it’s riffing on. The “spacetime” framing in the title suggests scenes and objects span more than just a single ordinary road trip setting, turning a nostalgic car-game format into something a bit stranger and more varied round to round.

Core Technical & Design Elements

  1. Hint-Driven Object Search: Built a system for presenting a clue and validating whether the player’s click lands on the correct target object in the scene.
  2. Multi-Jam Scope: Developed to satisfy two overlapping game jams simultaneously (Brackeys 2026.1 and Godot Wild Jam #90), balancing both jams’ constraints within one shared build.
  3. Four-Person Collaboration: Built with a larger jam team than most of DarthPackman’s other jam entries, splitting design, art, and implementation work across four contributors.

Final Result

Roadtrip Through SpaceTime successfully reframes a familiar childhood car-trip pastime as a small, hint-driven search game, built collaboratively across two simultaneous game jams.
