Torn Threads is a high-mobility first-person movement shooter developed as a university game design project, alongside teammates Laura, Angelo, Vasu, and Alex. The game serves as a homage to Ender s Game, blending fast-paced, fluid movement mechanics with a dramatic narrative twist.

Narrative Concept

The player initially believes they are hooked into a whimsical virtual reality game featuring cartoonish plush enemies, cardboard environments, and a lighthearted atmosphere. However, a hardware malfunction reveals the dark truth: the player has actually been piloting military mech technology to suppress a human rebel faction in the real world. Discarded by their faction after a failure, the player switches sides to join the resistance, fighting their way back through the exact same environments—now stripped of their cheerful disguises to reveal a rugged, war-torn landscape.

Gameplay & Features

  1. Advanced Movement: Inspired by titles like Titanfall and Apex Legends, featuring high-speed traversal with sprinting, double jumping, wall running, air dashing, and a grappling hook.
  2. Combat Arsenal: Varied gunplay, close-range melee attacks, and throwable tactical items for crowd control.
  3. Dual-Layer Level Design: Designed across a multi-stage descent and subsequent climb back up, shifting from a toy-like aesthetic to a gritty sci-fi war zone.
